CPAP & Sleep Disorder Clinic at the PSSM 19th Annual Convention: Journey to Good Sleep

Sleep is not a luxury — it is a necessity. And for three remarkable days in Davao City, the country’s brightest minds in sleep medicine gathered to make sure every Filipino understands that.

The Philippine Society of Sleep Medicine (PSSM) 19th Annual Convention, held from March 18–20, 2026 at the Acacia Hotel, Davao City, brought together approximately 200 to 300 delegates — respiratory therapists, RPSGTs, medical doctors from various specializations, investors, and public health officials — all united under one powerful theme:

“Journey to Good Sleep: Empowering Clinicians in Elevating Sleep Health.”

And we at CPAP & Sleep Disorder Clinic were honored to be part of it.

About the Convention

The Philippine Society of Sleep Medicine has been at the forefront of sleep health advocacy in the country since its founding. More than just an organization, PSSM is a community of professionals who share a common vision: that sleep should never be an option — it must be a priority.

This year’s convention was led by PSSM President Dr. Jimmy Chang, alongside PSSM officials, Department of Health (DOH) heads, and distinguished members of the Davao City community. Their presence underscored the importance of government and medical society collaboration in advancing sleep health across the Philippines.

What Was Discussed: Education, Screening, and Access

The convention’s sessions were deeply purposeful. Discussions centered on one of the most pressing challenges in Philippine sleep medicine today: how to bring sleep health services to regions that do not yet have dedicated sleep facilities.

Key topics included:

  • How to educate, screen, and offer diagnostic tests to patients in underserved areas
  • The serious consequences of untreated sleep disorders — from cardiovascular complications to reduced quality of life
  • The critical importance of early diagnosis in preventing long-term health risks

One of the most exciting announcements made at the convention was the PSSM Regional Caravan — a nationwide advocacy initiative that will bring sleep health education to different regions across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. The goal is not only to raise awareness but to actively help regions establish their own sleep facilities and connect with the support of the PSSM network.

This initiative reflects a truth that resonated throughout the entire convention: no Filipino should be left without access to proper sleep care simply because of where they live.

Day 1: The Regional Sleep Caravan Lay Forum

The convention began with the PSSM Regional Sleep Caravan Lay Forum on the morning of March 19, 2026 — an open forum designed to educate the broader community, not just medical professionals.

Held at the Datu Function Room of Acacia Hotel from 7:00 AM to 12:00 NN, the session brought together attendees eager to understand sleep disorders and what modern medicine can do to address them. It was a powerful reminder that sleep health advocacy must begin with public education.

Day 2: Grand Opening — Where Culture Meets Science

The main convention officially opened on Day 2 with a breathtaking cultural performance featuring Mindanaoan dancers in full traditional attire — a celebration of Davao’s rich indigenous heritage that set a warm and inspiring tone for the days ahead.

Our team was on the floor early, with the CPAP & Sleep Disorder Clinic booth fully set up and ready to welcome visitors. Led by our medical representative Ms. Tracy, the booth served as a space where clinicians and healthcare professionals could learn about:

  • Our full range of services — from Level 1 Polysomnogram to Home Sleep Apnea Testing
  • The CPAP and BiPAP brands we carry, including ResMed, BMC, and Löwenstein Medical
  • How we care for our patients beyond the initial diagnosis — our approach to long-term, consistent patient care

The most common question visitors asked? Our services, our location, and how we can reach patients outside Metro Manila. Our answer was clear: through telemedicine and delivery services, distance is no longer a barrier. No matter where a patient is in the Philippines, we can reach them.

Day 3: Clinical Learning, Connections, and Closing

The final day was filled with high-level clinical content, including an engaging knowledge quiz that challenged participants on complex sleep medicine topics — including the pathophysiology of narcolepsy and other sleep disorders. It was a testament to the expertise and passion of every clinician in the room.

The convention closed with a grand gala dinner and closing ceremony, bringing the entire community together in celebration of their shared commitment to sleep health advocacy.

For our team, it was a meaningful conclusion to three days of learning, connection, and purpose.

Our Takeaway: No Distance Should Interrupt the Continuity of Care

Attending the PSSM 19th Annual Convention was more than an opportunity for visibility — it was a reaffirmation of why we do what we do.

The most important lesson our team brought home was this: consistent patient care should never be interrupted by distance. Whether a patient is in BGC or in a remote province in Mindanao, they deserve access to quality sleep health services. The convention also provided a valuable refresher on the sleep study process, complete with hands-on activities that sharpened our team’s clinical knowledge.

Joining this event was also an opportunity to introduce CPAP & Sleep Disorder Clinic to a wider audience outside Metro Manila — clinicians, hospitals, and health institutions who may not yet know what we offer, but who share our passion for patient-centered sleep care.

A Message to Patients and Clinicians

If you have not yet heard of PSSM, here is what you need to know: PSSM is the most reliable and active sleep medicine organization in the Philippines. They are not simply a professional society — they are a movement. A group of dedicated professionals who believe, as we do, that sleep is not optional. It is a priority.

And as CPAP & Sleep Disorder Clinic, we continue to align ourselves with that advocacy — sharing our services, our knowledge, and our passion with every patient and clinician we meet.

As our team puts it best:

“CPAP and Sleep Disorder Clinic continues to share services and opportunities to the public in raising education, training, and purpose — to give our patients the best sleep quality they deserve.”
